blast from the past

Remember I said that I used to have another avatar way back in 2006, that I stopped using? Well, today I found some pics of him.

Alice, you were asking about what place the pic was taken? I remembered where it was. This was a treehouse in a place called Oakmyst, on Phyllira. The build is gone now unfortunately. Oakmyst was a fun place.

scooterboy

So I finally (after battling the lag) managed to pick up a free scooter from Edo Japan. It’s available for a limited time only so if you want one, you best hurry (and maybe go about 3am when it’s a bit less packed?)

090420_001 I took it for a spin on the roads near my home (I’m lucky enough to live on old mainland right next to a road) and there I was struggling up the hill thinking that it was a bit underpowered. Only later I realised this thing actually has gears, and I’d been chugging along in first!

090420_002 After riding round a bit, I went to pick my girlfriend up from work, and took her for a spin. And now she wants to get her own. In yellow.

I’m really impressed with the way this vehicle rides. I’ve had some difficulty with sim crossings but never once was I unseated, and I’ve never yet had to go hunting for a bike that’s gone AWOL and parked itself in someone’s yard.  Also, it responds really well to gravity, love the way it banks round corners and freewheels down hills.

Residents Choice

So the results of the Resident’s Choice awards are in, and, as I expected, filled mostly with places and people I’ve never heard of. Now I guess is the time to sit back with a BIG bag of popcorn, and watch the snark from the people who didn’t win.

Two of the categories were won by people/places I voted for, most notably Prad Prathivi who won best blogger for his Metaversally Speaking blog, which is always a good read.

I have to admit a moment of WTF when I read that residents think Luskwood is the best place to go for “intellectual” conversation. residents must have a whole different understanding to the word “intellectual” than I do. What about Thothica? Philosophy House? (Or even my garden? *grins*) I can certainly concur that Luskwood is a good place to play Furry, but I wouldn’t want to go there for an intellectual conversation. (Yes I have been there, and found it to be full of ordinary and mostly fairly childish chatter).

Viking!

Kallisti Burns of Discord Designs has been working on a super-top-secret project for a while, and today she launched it as a group gift for the Subscribo members.

This, is Ragnar, the most awesome beard I have ever seen.
viking_002a

Shown here in my usual “Flame” colour, and teamed up with the Odin hair which this beard is designed to complement.

Better watch this beard, I think there’s a bird’s nest in it somewhere.

(The outfit is from Tayren’s medieval store)

Fishing Blues

fishing_007

Went up on the hill about twelve o’clock.
Reached right back and got me a pole.
Went to the hardware and got me a hook.
Attached that line right on that hook.

Says you’ve been a-fishin’ all the time.
I’m a-goin’ fishin’ too.
I bet your life, your lovin’wife.
Can catch more fish than you.
Any fish bite if you’ve got good bait.
Here’s a little somethin’ I would like to relate.
Any fish bite, you’ve got good bait.
I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’, yes, I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’,
I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’ too.

Looked down the river about one o’clock.
Spied this catfish swimmin’ around.
I’ve got so hungry, didn’t know what to do.
I’m gonna get me a catfish too.

Yes, you’ve been fishin’ all the time.
I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’ too.
I bet your life your lovin’ wife.
Catch more fish than you.
Any fish bite, got good bait.
Here’s a little somethin’ I would like to relate.
Any fish bite, you’ve got good bait.
I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’, yes, I’m goin’ a-fishin’,
I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’ too.

Put on your skillet, don’t never mind your lead.
Mama gonna cook ’em with the short’nin’ bread.

Says you been fishin’ all the time.
I’m a-goin a-fishin’ too.
I bet your life, your lovin’ wife.
Can catch more fish than you.
Any fish bite, if you’ve got good bait.
Here’s a little somethin’ I would like to relate.

I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’, yes, I’m goin’ a-fishin’,
I’m a-goin’ a-fishin’ too.

Rare fashion post

I don’t normally do fashion, but today I think I’m going to make an exception.  I’ve picked up new hair yesterday (one of the advantages/disadvantages of dating the customer service rep for a major hair creator – I get plenty of choice, but damn it’s bad for my bank balance. And before you suggest it, no I wouldn’t dream of asking for freebies just because I’m dating one of the staff).

shaiAnd then today I dropped a bunch of L$ at what I think is now my new favourite menswear store; Casa del Shai. First positive thing – the pants meet the shirt without showing an expanse of my pale, soft belly. Guys with washboard abs might like to show off in this regard but I like to keep my beer-gut hidden thank-you very much, and it annoys me no end that 99% of men’s pants look like they’re about to fall off the hips. These are proper high-rise ones. Thank you Shai.

I also bought a tanktop set (black, light grey and brown) and two checked shirts. I particularly love the second one here, which comes in both open and buttoned-up.
